Power's Back! Urr, I Mean Heat!

Hot water was restored at the weekend thankfully. Other than that, it was uneventful. Still not a speck of snow. Watched a few movies, marvelled at my friend Jack's new beard, played a bit of football (yes, I played football!). Got a lot of work to do this week, an essay on a film I don't own, praticals, a libary task, stuff like that.

I ended up shelling out THIRTY FIVE quid for a Christmas Ball ticket, but it looks to be fun and most of the flat are going, so I thought I had better. Could be fun. Should be interesting at least!

Other than that nothing to report. We have a week and a bit left to finish our final pratical of a scene of some play in which we must all do Northern accents. It's not going well. I get the impression my group thinks I'm a slacker for some reason, somebody even said to me today 'have you read this play!?', I was like 'Of course I've bloody read it!' (well, actually, I said 'yes', but I didn't want to seem nasty). But I think it will be fine. I like everybody in the group, so we're having fun.

Not much else to say. See you all in two weeks!

It's Cold!

Winter is here, and thus it's freezing. Not that we get any rain, oh no, that would mean we wouldn't have a drought this summer! The cold doesn't overly bother me, only having to walk a very short distance, but right now things are bad because, for no apparent reason, our building has lost hot water. Cold showers when outside all water has frozen is not fun, and of course, our heaters are water based, so no heat that way either! A pipe had burst, but it should be fixed, so I dunno what's wrong. All I know is it's freezing!

I hear the West Country has snow. Damn, and I miss it! I want a snowball fight! You had better save me some!!!

The Subways

So I borrowed The Subways album off Kat and listened to it. I loved their music, and the songs were good, but I didn't think they could sing. I don't know, something about the lead singer just sounded off. Then I saw them live.

Holy shit.

They rock. Seriously rock. I mean, they were incredible. How they're singing came out sounding so lacksture on the CD I'll never know, because live they are amazing. Despite a few 'you're the best crowd we've had yet's which I didn't really buy, it was awesome. Plenty of stage dives too, and the bassist (Charlotte?) can really rock. The way she plays that guitar is phenominal. Although she didn't seem as confident with the crowd as the main guy, she only uttered a few bits of standard stuff. The lead guy was amazing, he can really sing, and get the crowd going. And when he climbed up onto a large raised platform and just hurled himself into the crowd, it was awesome. Not to mention trying to direct himself crowd surfing, and it just went all horribly wrong and they dropped him! Luckily I wasn't in the pit at the time (I got lumbered protecting stuff, missed the pit, but was close enough to enjoy).

It was an incredible performance though, and I can really see the praise The Subways get is well deserved, especially being live. It was simply incredible. I got two songs recorded on my phone too when I videoed it, came out terribly, but at least I have it!
